Recent Remixes and Some Stars mashed up

Viennese Duo Konea Ra, who released their debut Album "Pray for Sun" this March on Vienna Wildstyle and are thus effectively label-mates of mine, had a while ago invited me to do a remix of the title-track of their first ep and album. A task I tremendously enjoyed, as the track builds around a great Bass-Sax drone inviting deepness of various shapes and sizes to be further extracted from. The remix can be obtained by getting their Ping-Pong EP, which features further remixes by Ken Hayakawa, Dirty Delgado, Dada Inc. and  Weisz & Schenk.
Not really being the praying type myself I present the Agnostic Remix:

get this one via zero-inch, beatport, amazon, the one that starts with i, etc.
or get the album:

A little while after that good friend Lentonja Jackson informed me that Lamb, whose first eponymous album greatly inspired me back in the days, had a remix contest running. And while I've never been overtly active partaking in these sorts of competitions, I could not withstand this time...
... it became a remix "Of equal or sentimental value"

download while stocks last!

If those made you long for more hidari/emixes check out these two releases on laridae.at:

live in Bratislava with QUINOLINE YELLO (Skam, UK), Djs zden & drakh (both sk) 26.5.2012

it's been a long time, i shouldn't have left you, without a dope new live set to entertain you with...

that's going to change, at least for a (so far) one off gig next Saturday May 26th 2012 at FUGA in Bratislava.
Main act is Quinoline Yellow (aka Luke Williams aka Tatamax) from the UK who releases on SKAM and UCHELFA and local talent zden and drakh.

flyer:
I highly recommend - whether you are considering to come (yay!) or cannot - to check out Quinoline Yellow's latest offering, which you can get as free dl on his Bandcamp page:http://uchelfa.bandcamp.com/album/free-downloads

There is a FB page for the Event including all relevant infos:
https://www.facebook.com/events/460361060646062/

People from Vienna considering going are invited to contact me so we can coordinate matters to avoid wasting empty car seats for the sake of public transport fares...

i'm very much looking forward to this and am busy thoroughly revamping my live setup and set , which will (mostly) center around adaptions of recent material (i.e. Some Stars not yet Black Holes RLR and The Black Star Variations laridae).

at the moment there are no further live appearances planned but I'd definitely be up for it... mail: hidari [at] gmx [döt] net for any booking inquiries.

Gesundheit - or how I start(ed) learning the APC...

Recently I finally started out building my own sound devices. I'm very much a novice in electronics, but there's a lot of helpful information on the web (some links will follow in a future post) and a buzzing diy scene, so there's a lot of easy projects to start out with.
My first attempts were/are all based around the 555** chip and the (in)famous Atari Punk Console.
There's even kits out there, so it's not too difficult. Nonetheless I didn't make use of a kit but just got me the parts myself and started out on a breadboard:
Since I don't feel Atari enough to punk it properly, I decided to call my models the "Gesundheit* APC".
Before setting out on my first APC I did a test-circuit on a breadboard and made a quick and dirty (literally, as I used cardboard and pencil) ribbon controller.

The Gesundheit* 2000 and Ave Maria Ribbon Controller in prototype version. here's how it sounds:
I then also fashioned a ribbon controller - very makeshift - with pencil and copper-wire... there's definitely some R&D still awaiting, but you can make cool sounds just from the above.

-- *As I was experimenting my good friend (and the great designer of the Some "Stars not yet Black Holes" cover) DFKT came over for a jam and christened the whole thing "Gesundheit". Since then I'm growing increasingly impatient since I am waiting for a lot of parts I ordered, but as the first few are coming in I started building the first models...
** shown on the photos below is, of course, a circuit using a 556 chip - aka two 555ers in one.

Here you can see the progress from testing the assembled board, doing test recording and building a nice box...
and here is how it sounds:
- next time round: the StashVerb69 MK1, The Gesundheit Modular story and more!

(edited 14.05.12 - minor typo corrections, and the thing about the second chip being a 556. ah yeah, and of course the quick and dirty pencilribbon part.)

Beta Bodega Coalition 2K12 touches your mood tits...

Out now on the Schematic Music Label is  Beta Bodega Coalition 2K12,
a fine compilation featuring Remixes and collaborations from the creme de la creme of contemporary electronica, including a great glitchy remix Romulo del Castillo (aka Takeshi Muto) of Phoenecia made of my track Arcturus.
